Batch 214 Double IPA, Pac Brew Lab, San Francisco, CA
•10.4% ABV
•Sweet and floral notes with a dash of hoppy goodness
Saturday I had the opportunity to have a brew with Bryan and Patrick of Pac Brew Lab at the taping of their KRON4 spot – ahhhhh the perks of working for the media (you ever wonder where I edit for a day job? Wonder no more..). And what beer lover wouldn’t want to wake up early for “work” on a Saturday to enjoy a brew – especially one that hasn’t hit the shelves or the bars yet. So what did I think of Batch 214 Double IPA?
Where many double IPAs take the hoppiness to an extreme, Batch 214 maintains a balance between sweet floral notes and hoppy bite. While hops present themselves upfront in many IPAs, Batch 214 holds them on the back burner until its flavor begins to unfold. Instead, the initial taste is smooth and malty in texture with a hint of fruit and floral notes. It was an enjoyable surprise form a double IPA, taking the hop-o-meter to a 4.5. Since their brews have yet to hit the shelves, Patrick and Bryan are literally giving them away every other Thursday at the brew lab. And what do you know? Tonight is one of those Thursdays! So if you are in the San Francisco area stop by 214 Clara Street in SOMA starting at 7 and ending when all the kegs are kicked. Cheers and hope to see you there!

i wonder what the other 213 batches were like
I’ll be sure to try this one. I love double/triple IPAs.
